100 Years of Aerial Images Go Online
Historic England has launched its Aerial Photography Explorer tool, which allows everyone to examine how landscapes have changed during last 100 years. There are approximately 400,000 images to explore and some of them were taken over Titchmarsh!
Intriguingly, several photos show the Castle Manor Farm site complete with clearly identifiable archaeological crop markings. These indicate the site of some form of settlement or industry – all of which would be covered in layers of concrete if the warehouse development goes ahead.
To make best use of the tool, click the button below and then enter “Titchmarsh” in the search engine box which you’ll find in the top left corner of the map.
