A Hidden Gem!
Tucked away in Titchmarsh is a hidden gem you won’t want to miss if you can plan to be in the village on the right day. Bursting with colour from (amongst others) the roses, magnolias, irises and peonies, you must add to your to-do list a visit to the gardens of Titchmarsh House.
As part of the NGS open garden scheme, Sir Ewan and Lady Jenny Harper are delighted to welcome you to take a good look round their beautiful gardens. To those of us who are somewhat challenged in the green-fingers department, it’s simply a stunning work of art!
This year the open days are:
- Monday 7th May, 2.00-6.00pm
- Sunday 20th May, 2.00-6.00pm
- Saturday 9th June, 12.30-5.00pm
The entrance fee for adults is £4.00 (no charge for children under 16) and all the proceeds go to the NGS Charities with an emphasis on hospices and cancer research.
On the open days, Ewan and Jenny are on hand to help answer any gardening queries you might have and there’s the chance to buy some of their cuttings and seedlings too.

For a peek at what to expect, please have a look at the new Titchmarsh House garden website – it’s still a ‘work in progress’ but we add new photos and information whenever we can (http://www.titchmarsh-house.co.uk/).
Here’s a link to the NGS website too, should that be useful (https://www.ngs.org.uk/).
Meanwhile the garden has started to show its early Spring beauties like the magnolias and Prunus illustrated here. The tree peonies should also be flowering on 7th May. Besides the NGS open afternoons, Ewan and Jenny welcome private parties, so if you would like to pop in as a group, please make contact on 01832 732439 or ewan@ewanh.co.uk. For private parties, with or without a guided tour, the charge is £5 per person for the NGS with any tea or coffee (£3 per head) surplus going to the Village Shop.
If you have any immediate queries, please just use the contact details above or the contact form on the Titchmarsh House website and send us a message, which we’ll respond to as quickly as we can.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to Titchmarsh House gardens!
