It’s Showtime. Yes it really is. This year’s Show is on Saturday 12th August in the Church.
Our annual Show provides an opportunity for everyone to show their talents and enjoy some local competition. There are classes for adults and children, from showing vegetables and flowers to handicraft, photography, cakes, jam, beers and wines to name but a few. Entries are anonymous unless you win, avoiding any embarrassment!
If it’s not for you, then come along when the Show opens at 2.30pm and admire the flair and ingenuity of the children’s entries, the beauty of the flowers and enjoy you way around the tables to admire the exhibits.
Then you’ll need some refreshments, why not try your hand at table skittles and catch up with old friends and make new ones. The afternoon is rounded off with an auction of produce donated by the exhibitors so you can be sure it’s fresh.
Exhibitors are asked to bring their items to the church before 11am, then the church is in lockdown whilst the judges do their work. The Show opens to the public at 2.30pm [entry fee just £1 or 50p for children aged 12 and under] and that’s when the fun starts.
The Committee would like to make a polite request that you do not bring your dog into the church. You are welcome to bring the dog into the outside area of the church and there are usually tables and chairs outside the north door. Of course guide dogs are the exception.
At 4.15pm exhibitors have an opportunity to remove their produce, although they are encouraged to leave what they can to be auctioned. At 4.30pm everyone is invited into the church for the prizegiving and raffle. Then it’s the auction of produce, led by our lively auctioneer Andrew Wager, a good time is guaranteed; the auction is always entertaining and not to be missed.
The Show schedule will be delivered to every house in the village towards the end of July. The schedule has been revamped so please take the time to read it as there is something for everyone. Entries need to be made before Show day, and can be sent by email or delivered to a committee member, full details are in the programme and on the entry form. Go on, take the plunge and enter, remember all the entries are anonymous unless you win so come along on Saturday 12th August, join in and have fun.
