Burglary in Titchmarsh
A house on Toft’s Close was burgled this week. Two intruders gained access to the property in the early evening of Tuesday 1st and proceeded to ransack the bedrooms. They were interrupted when one of the owners returned home. The burglars then fled – taking a large amount of jewellery and personal items with them.
The home owners are rightly very shaken. So is their daughter. She was present when the intruders were discovered.
The burglars were last seen jumping from a first floor balcony. The home owner assumes they then escaped on foot across the fields behind Tofts Close – perhaps to a waiting car parked on North Street or Back End. This is just one potential line of enquiry. Police are investigating and villagers are asked to check their CCTV for any suspicious activity around 18:35 on Tuesday 1st Feb.

This is a shocking event right at the heart of our community. It took place in an ordinary house on an ordinary street in Titchmarsh. It’s thought the intruders gained entry by forcing a window at the rear of the property. Thankfully, when the home owner arrived on the scene, no confrontation took place and no-one was hurt. Things could have been very different. We can only hope that the culprits are caught and the stolen items returned.
Please be extra vigilant.
