Not completely ready – but ready to start. That’s the message from Stuart Wright – boss of the Proper Pub Co. who have taken over at the Wheatsheaf. Stuart shared some photos of the ongoing work which is hurriedly going on behind the scenes. It’s clear the pub has undergone a minor transformation in a relatively short period of time and there remains the promise of more to come. For now, however, the village has got it’s pub back. The doors will be open today from 5pm. See you there.

As we have mentioned before, plans are starting to take shape for the redevelopment of the Play Area at the Playing Fields. There is much work to be done on both the design and funding for the project and we need your help to ensure that we can gather as much opinion and ideas before we apply for funding or start to finalise plans. If you could spare a few moments to visit our website and look at the new Play Area page that would be most appreciated. There is a small form at the bottom of the page to leave your comments, ideas or suggestions – all feedback will help us provide the evidence that the project is needed and supported by the community so please do engage with us!
We are also holding our Annual General Meeting on 11 September at 7:30pm in the PFA Pavilion. If you would like to come along to discuss any areas of the PFA or even to volunteer to help out, it would be most appreciated. With many thanks, The PFA Committee.
It’s been called the best Flower and Vegetable show for years – and with good reason. Saturday’s event, held in St Mary’s Church, saw more people entering than ever before. It was also a bumper year for the auction with record numbers staying on at the end of the show to bid for produce. The committee were extremely grateful for everyone who came along to support the show especially the many helpers who gave their time so willingly.
Once the final figures have been totted up the committee will begin distributing the profits for the benefit of the village in early October. This will include funding support for Maggy Chapman who for years has maintained the planters located at the village signs. The committee were also able to provide some financial support to Titchmarsh Youth Group. Full details will be provided at a later date.
Next year’s Show will be on Saturday 11th August 2018. Meanwhile, you can read about all the winners in the 2 downloads provided below.
