A few months ago the Clubroom played host to a rather special quiz night. It was special for a number of reasons – not least because it was held to raise money for Cransley Hospice. The quiz was put on by the family of Howard Bosworth who sadly died earlier this year. The proceeds of the night were donated to the hospice by the family to say thank you for the care Howard had received in his final days. It was a brilliant night, full of fun and lots of laughs. Baby Howard even made an appearance in the picture round!
The other thing that made the event special was that lots of people still don’t know it even happened. As soon as news of the quiz started to circulate, tables were snapped up almost at once. By the time anyone thought about doing some advertising, it had entirely sold out.
On the night the Clubroom was packed full of people. One of Howard’s daughters asked the questions and carried the evening along at a refreshing pace. There was no bar – so people were invited to bring along their own refreshments. There was no big screen – so there was no scores to worry about. What there was, however, was a splendid fish n chip supper supplied by Ben’s Chippy in Thrapston. Some kind soul even brought along a pan of curry sauce!
It was a really great night and by 10pm it was all over. If you missed it, you missed a treat.
Well, the good news is that it’s going to happen again! Friday 29th September is the date. Same format, Fish and Chips, tea, coffee, squash or bring you own booze. £10 a ticket. Teams of 6 max. Starts 7pm.
Contact Katherine Bosworth on Kvbosworth@gmail.com to book your tables now – before it’s too late! As before, all proceeds go to Cransley Hospice.
Please Note. The effort to raise money doesn’t end here. Howard’s daughter, Katherine, will be taking on several more events later this year. These include running a half marathon as well as being a dancer in the annual Strictly Kettering contest. Every bit of money she can raise goes in the pot. The Titchmarsh Youth group starts back after the summer break this Friday 8th September. We will be meeting in the club room between 7pm and 9pm. See our village website page for more information on the group.
