Great News! The Titchmarsh Play Area has been chosen as one of the charities in the monthly ‘vote’ at Waitrose in Oundle during November. If you could spare your green token for us it would start the fundraising effort towards this hugely beneficial project for the village.
The Titchmarsh Village Defibrillator is now in place in the cabinet on the side of the Village Shop. The cabinet has a keypad lock on it; the code would be obtained from a call to the Emergency Services should it be needed. The photos show you what to expect inside. The device is completely harmless to anyone who does not need a shock. There is an excellent training video at the link below (the video is made in the USA and so gives ‘911’ as the Emergency Number) which shows how to use the unit. It is very intuitive and simple to use.
The East Midlands Ambulance Service will be providing the village with a CPR & AED Training Event in the next month or so. If you are interested in attending this training, please contact me at email@example.com so I can co-ordinate numbers. Details will follow. I am also looking for a few volunteers to help with the simple maintenance checks on the device. If you feel you are able to help out, please get in touch. Once again, many thanks to all those who have been involved in getting this project off the ground. I rather hope that the AED will have a peaceful existence locked in its cabinet, but it is there should it be needed.

The PFA Committee
Dear all. On the Playing Fields Committee, we are responsible for the upkeep and improvement of the Pavilion, Playing Fields and Play Area. Recently, we had a ROSPA inspection letting us know that the safety of some items of Play Equipment had slipped below acceptable standards. This, along with our own inspections and concerns from members of the village, has meant that we have had to remove the swing seats. I very much hope that this will be a temporary measure as we are looking into replacement parts in the short term and at a much needed revamp of the whole play area in the longer term.
I am sure that you understand that funding has much to do with this and we are exploring ways of raising funds through grants as well as our own events. If you would like to volunteer to help us in any capacity (from committee member to assisting at one of our events), we would very much like to hear from you. You can get in touch through firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are holding our AGM in early September (date TBC) and would love to see you there if you can spare the time. With many thanks for your understanding.
Popular Running Event back with a bang!
Thank you so much to everyone who was involved with and/or supported the Titchmarsh Running Races this year. It was fantastic to see so many competitors out in the sunny weather running in the 3k and 10k races – in fact, we had the biggest ever combined field in the history of the event. Whether you were a racing snake up the front or just managed to make it around the challenging course, we were delighted to see you and have you compete. Official results are now available on the Village Website.
The true Titchmarsh Spirit was also out in force with plenty of support from villagers and spectators along the course. We have already had plenty of very positive feedback from competitors and from our official event adjudicator which is great to hear. However, if there are any points you would like us to consider for future events, please feel free to get in touch through the PFA website (www.titchmarshplayingfield.org.uk); we will be having a post-race meeting in the next few days and will consider all suggestions.
Finally, a massive thank you to all the volunteers who helped us organise and manage a very successful event – we really couldn't do it without you all. Thanks must also go to the event sponsors Bulley Davey Chartered Accountants. We have provisionally raised £1900 for the Playing Fields Association which will go a long way towards keeping things running.
Planning has already started for the 2018 event (provisionally being held on Sunday 13 May 2018) so we hope to see you all back on the roads for that one.
Sunday 7th May
Back again this year on Sunday 7th May are the ever popular 3k Fun Run and 10k Road Race. The 3k Run starts at 10am and the 10k Race starts at 11am. As in previous years, registration will be in The Clubroom with car parking available at the Playing Fields. The events will be on a closed road course following the familiar route out along the High Street towards Bidwell Cottages with a turning point before Clopton Church for the 10k race. The start/finish line will be on the High Street near The Wheatsheaf Pub. Refreshments will be available in The Clubroom and the Village Shop will also be holding a BBQ.
Registration WILL close at 15 minutes before each race to allow an on time start. To avoid disappointment, it is highly recommended that you register in advance (and elect to receive your race number in advance) for either race at www.titchmarshplayingfield.org.uk where further details on the event are also available.
This popular event attracts many competitors and spectators to the village and we are aiming to have an incident free event that is accessible and enjoyable to all. To keep it as safe as possible for our competitors, a Road Closure Notice will be in place along the course. The Road Closure will be in place from 0945-1230 during which time vehicle access to the High Street will not be possible.
For people who park their vehicles on the High Street and in order to keep the course free of obstacles for our competitors, would you please ensure that your vehicle is moved off the road by 0930 on that day? The Car Park at the Playing Fields will be available for your use if you need alternative arrangements.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause; however, it will allow our races to take part on a closed-road course, free from obstructions.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this closure, please contact Paul Fletcher on: email@example.com
With many thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
