Christmas Carol Services are on!

This year because of all the Covid restrictions we have decided to hold two carol services. Unfortunately, we will not be able to sing carols but we will be able to listen to readings of the Christmas story and listen to (and possibly hum along to) recorded carols sung by cathedral choirs. Peter Montague will also be around to play some organ music at the start and end of the Monday service. The fantastic acoustics of our church mean that we should be able to fill it with a joyful sound to lift all our spirits in this strangest of years.

The church has also been beautifully decorated and will be candlelit for both services.

At 4:30 p.m. on Sunday 20th December there will be a Family Nativity and Carol Service. Everyone is welcome but the service will be geared towards the younger members of our community.

On Monday 21st December at 7.30pm there will be a traditional service of Lessons and Carols.

For both of these services we must all wear masks and register on entering the church. Social distancing has to be maintained so numbers are limited. In order to keep everyone safe, booking is essential and will be on a first come first served basis. Please contact Julia Powell on ju.powell@btinternet.com or by telephone on 732283.

Please don’t be put off by this because, although we won’t be able to accommodate our usual 250 people safely, we will be able to get quite a lot in. We are not sure exactly how many yet because the different household sizes mean it is a bit like playing battleships without knowing how many cruisers, aircraft carriers, battleships etc we will need to fit in.

On Monday, we won’t let you get away without your usual mulled wine and mince pie but these will have to be takeaway.
