Flowers and things
Titchmarsh Flower Club consists of 24 members and holds 6 meetings a year. The meetings are held in the Clubroom on the third Wednesday in March, April, May, September, October & November – we consistently have 12 to 15 members attending at any one time. We also have an informal get together at Christmas to set the themes we would like to see the following year.
The meetings start at 7.30pm with a demonstration by a visiting professional arranger, who demonstrates a particular style of arrangement. Over the years we have been shown a wide variety of styles, varying from a pedestal arrangement, hand tied, buttonholes, Japanese Ikabana and a Jubilee arrangement, to name just a few.
The demonstration takes about hour, and is swiftly followed by a workshop led by the demonstrator, where those who wish to, have a go at reproducing the style of arrangement that we have just seen. Towards the end of the meeting (which finishes between 9pm and 9.30pm) the demonstrator’s arrangement is raffled.
About a week before each meeting members receive a flyer through their door (or by email) giving them information about the forthcoming demonstration, and details of what to bring if they wish to join in on the workshop.
Members are invited to pay in advance for the 6 meetings per year, as a discounted rate; otherwise payment is collected on the evening the current fee being £6 per meeting.
New members are made very welcome. You don’t have to do the workshop, you don’t need to book ahead, simply turn up on the night – try it out, there’s no obligation.
The Flower Clubs meetings are light-hearted and enjoyable social occasions.
