Stephen Barber and Peter Dunn Hoping to Cycle All the Way!
“Last year two Titchmarsh friends, Stephen Barber and Peter Dunn, celebrated a BIG birthday. There were parties to mark the occasion and then something of a debate about what to do next. Perhaps they should undertake a challenge or have an adventure to celebrate reaching their joint milestone. At some point thereafter, probably over a beer (or three) the two hatched a plan to cycle from Land’s End to John O'Groats. Exactly who had the idea is lost in something of a haze (as you might expect with all that beer) but once they'd mentioned it in the bar the die was cast – and they were committed……
After 3 months of sporadic training, Peter and Stephen started their epic ride on Sunday. They now have 2 weeks to complete the route north – a distance of 1006 miles – which means they need to ride about 70 miles every day. In an effort to record their adventure, Stephen is keeping a diary, making notes of incidents and places visited along the way. We will be posting extracts here on the website and Facebook page over the coming days along with photos as they become available.
The first part is coming soon. Before you read it, however, you may want to consider sponsoring the intrepid duo who are hoping to raise funds for 4 charities:
The Railway Children
Railway Children fights for vulnerable children all over the world who live alone on streets and stations, providing protection and opportunity for kids with nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to.
Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance
WNAA flies around 1000 missions a year – each costing around £1700 – it’s funded solely by charitable donations
You can make a donation to both the above charities at the Just Giving website: https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/Cyclingat60 »
