May Day Celebrations 2019

May Day marks the beginning of warmer weather, blossom filled trees and flowers, historical traditions and a time to celebrate Spring and new life in all its glory.

The beautiful spring weather bathed the May Day procession in sunshine as it made it’s way through the village occasionally stopping to sing to local residents.

This year’s May Queen, Lottie Donaldson was transported around the village in the 155yr old May Carriage, accompanied by May King Jax Poppham and all the pupils and staff of Titchmarsh School.

During the afternoon the children skilfully performed traditional Maypole dances with colourful ribbons artfully plaited around the pole.
The wonderful sunny day, the celebrating and dancing in the church made for a memorable occasion for all who took part.
