Please, come and join us for some refreshments, have your say on any concerns or pass on any suggestions you may have. New ideas and new enthusiasm always welcome!
Our regular Monday morning Café will have to be shorter this week and finish at 10am. This is because a funeral has been re-arranged and is due to start at 11am.
I am very sorry about this, but it was out of my control and I was not notified until all had been set.
The funeral is for Joan O’Rorke, who has lived in the village for many years; and her husband Rodney has been here nearly all his life.
Come and enjoy a village quiz night in the Clubroom with quiz master Paul Milner. Teams of up to eight per table. £10-00 per person. Chilli with jacket potato provided and of course there will be a bar!
Show us all what you know and what you don’t know!
If you would like to book a table (or just a few spaces on a table), please contact Diane on 01832 735881, Hayley on 01832 732488, Julia on 01832 732283 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
It has been announced that the Wheathsheaf will re-open on Friday October 6th. This is a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for both pub and village. In the space of a week, Titchmarsh has gone from no pub to the promise of themed evenings, Steak Nights, Pie Night and even Gin night! It all kicks off in 2 weeks – so book the babysitter and get ready for the grand opening.
Not completely ready – but ready to start. That’s the message from Stuart Wright – boss of the Proper Pub Co. who have taken over at the Wheatsheaf. Stuart shared some photos of the ongoing work which is hurriedly going on behind the scenes. It’s clear the pub has undergone a minor transformation in a relatively short period of time and there remains the promise of more to come. For now, however, the village has got it’s pub back. The doors will be open today from 5pm. See you there.
I know that it is only October but when you go shopping this weekend you will notice that all the large stores and supermarkets have their Christmas cards out. Well before you are tempted to spend your money with the big boys take a moment to take a look at the Christmas cards TVS has – a small but very nice selection that Jane has put together. You will find them toward the back of the shop next to the cakes.

What a wonderful day we had on Saturday. TVS celebrated 10 years and much of the village celebrated with us. We had luck with the weather, sunny and warm with not a spot of rain until the last marquee had been taken down. Burgers and turkey were consumed, cake was devoured, beer, gin and prosecco quaffed in usual Titchmarsh volumes and everyone got into the spirit of balloon counting, welly wanging and egg throwing. Brilliant! So now here come the thank you messages: Thank you to everyone who entered the cake competition – simply wonderful! Thank you to Fiona Love for the fantastic TVS cake she donated. Thank you to everyone who gave a raffle prize. Thank you to our American friends Gerrard and Alison for introducing us to very tasty American style turkey baps. Thank you to every volunteer who either before the event or on the day gave up their time to make it happen. Thank you to the TVS fund raising team and Jane Newman our shop manager for putting the whole thing together. Very special thanks to John Wills – John was the driving force behind the event and without him it would have not been the success that it was. And finally – the biggest thank you of all to the villagers of Titchmarsh and the shops very loyal customers for coming out and joining us to mark 10 Years of Titchmarsh Village Shop – so onwards now to the next 10!
As part of our 10 year Anniversary Celebrations the Titchmarsh Village Shop are holding a Village Bake Off on Saturday 30th September. We know there are some great bakers in the village, because we’ve been enjoying the results of your work at Summer Fetes & Produce Shows for many years…. but whose bake is best? Why not find out by entering our Bake Off competition?
