Not long now, until Titchmarsh Open Gardens event
Open Garden participants and the STAUNCH Fund-Raising Team have been working very hard to ensure that this event is a huge success! We also want it to be enjoyable for all involved – which is why we are in need of some extra volunteers to help out.
A week before on Sunday 11th June TEG are organising an extra Litter Pick of all roads around our village to ensure that Titchmarsh is looking its very best! If you would like to take part please contact Sharon in advance at sharon.cole9@btinternet.com so that volunteers can be organised into teams covering each road into Titchmarsh.
Alice at Dovely Bakery has kindly opened her doors on the 18th to help support the event and will be donating 20% of her sales takings to STAUNCH.
Sidney will be holding an Open Studio at his home, off the High Street. Sidney has widely exhibited his work. Several pieces, including some local scenes will be for sale – with all proceeds very kindly donated to STAUNCH.
Craft Stall in The Clubroom – There are already several stalls reserved, with more people enquiring, so get in there quick if you would like to take part. Only £10 a stall. Contact – sharon.cole9@btinternet.com.
St Mary’s Church are offering tea and cakes and there will be other refreshments available at several of the gardens.
Titchmarsh Village Shop will be open throughout the event and is donating village merchandise towards fund raising.
The Wheatsheaf have advertised the event for us and will be open on the day to provide food and drink to visitors.
Louise Stokes will be holding another Plant and Fresh Produce Stall on Top Green. So, if you have any surplus produce that you would like to donate to the stall- to help raise funds for STAUNCH, please take it to outside the Village Shop on the morning of Sunday 18th June.
Alan Titchmarsh, sadly, cannot be with us on the day, but has sent a video of support and some signed books to sell to help with the fund raising. The video will be shown in the Church.
A call for Volunteers!
On the day – We need volunteers for:
- Craft stalls -to take sales money
- Parking Stewards – to help visitors park in Playing Fields car park and other allocated places.
- A couple of people to possibly supervise entry to one of the gardens.
All volunteers will be invited to a Pre-Event Open Gardens Tour on Saturday 17th June from 2-4pm so that all you kind people do not miss out on the fun!! If you are able to help, please contact Sharon asap at: sharon.cole9@btinternet.com.
The village will (we hope) be much busier that day – with more cars and people. We aim to keep inappropriate parking to a minimum by using the Playing Field Car Park, the placing of traffic cones in certain areas and kind volunteers directing visitors. The event starts at 11am and ends at 4pm if you wish to escape the hustle and bustle.
We do hope though, that many people from the village will support the event and take a tour around the Open Gardens, visit the Craft Fair in the Clubroom, buy some refreshments and children can take part in the I Spy Birds activity. It should be good fun and you get to have a nosey in your neighbours’ gardens!
Pre event tickets are available from the Village Shop from Mon 5th June for only £5 (cash only please) which can then be exchanged for a Garden Trail Map from the Sales Stand outside the shop on the day. I Spy Activity sheets available on the day, are only £1 and there is a small prize for all participants.
All we need now is some sunshine!!!
They say the sun shines on the righteous – well the developers are definitely not right and STAUNCH have the evidence to prove it – so we must be!!! See you on the day!!
