Notification Of Essential Lighting Renewal Works on the A14: Junction 11 to Junction 13

Notification from National Highways

Essential lighting renewal works on the A14 from Junction 11 through to Junction 13. During our scheme of work, where necessary:

  • Replace end of life street lighting equipment including columns and lanterns, on
    the A14 at Junctions 11,12 and 13
  • Replace and install feeder pillars, ducting, road crossings and cables
  • Vegetation clearance
  • We will also be working with Western Power (National Grid) to provide electricity board connection’s.

When will the work take place?

Work is due to start on 31st July 2023 and is scheduled for completion by March 2024.

Please note that all our planned roadworks may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

How will the work affect traffic?

To keep our programme for these works as short as possible and to minimise disruption to the local community, residents, businesses and road users, we will be working using the following combinations of road restrictions.

• A14 Slip road closure.
• A14 Lane closures
• A45 Full closures
• J13 roundabout closures
• J13 roundabout lane closures
• Associated Lay-by closures

Closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday.

During these closures fully signed diversion routes will be in place, which have been agreed with the Local Authority.

How will the work affect businesses and residents?

The services at Thrapston Roundabout will have the access roads closed for the installation of Road Crossings. We will make sure that access to businesses and residences is maintained wherever possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will do our very best to complete the work as quickly as possible, keeping disturbances and noise to a minimum.
