Please try to Attend
Public consultations held by developers prior to the submission of a formal planning application is part of a ‘box ticking’ exercise expected of them by local planning authorities. The degree of consultation undertaken by an applicant will be a material consideration at the determination stage.
It is extremely important for communities to attend these events and understand more detail regarding proposed developments.
However, BEWARE!
Developers often use feedback obtained from these events for their own benefit to assist them in formulating any formal application to increase the chances of their plans being approved.
Our advice in relation to the consultation is simple:
- Attend
- Listen
- Learn
If you are against the proposal, keep your objections to yourself at this stage but use the knowledge gained to formulate your response to the local authority once a formal planning application has been published.
