Road Closure Announcements
As the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations get into full swing next week, villagers are being reminded about two road closure orders which will be in effect next Sunday 5th June.
Village Green between 2pm and 6pm
The first is on the Village Green. The road connecting Chapel Street with the High Street will be closed to all traffic between 14:00 and 18:00. This is so that the village Street Party can be held. As neither Chapel Street nor the High Street are included in the closure the traffic passing either side of the green will be unaffected.
Polopit and The Leys between 10am and 11pm
However, in Polopit – where they are having their own street party – things are a bit different. The entire length of the road from the start of Polopit to the junction of the A14 will be closed to through traffic from 10:00 until 23:00. This will make ingress and egress via the A14 impossible for much of the day.
Steve Pinnock, one of the event organisers, adds:
We would like to give villagers advance notice that Polopit and The Leys will be closed to traffic from the A14 to the start of Polopit at the junction with the High Street on Sunday 5th June. It will be closed between the hours of 10:00 am and latest 23:00. This is for the Polopit and Abbott’s Close Jubilee Street Party.
Although the closure is approved until 23:00, we anticipate re-opening the road before then, once everyone has departed, the road has been cleared and it is safe to do so.

In all probability a notice will appear on the Village Facebook Group once the road has reopened.
Please note these are official road closure orders authorised by Northants Highways – much like the closures put in place for the 10K. Diversions will be in effect. Pedestrian access and egress to premises or land adjacent to the closed roads will be maintained at all times.
