The Pub is Open and it Needs Your Support

Since the Wheatsheaf reopened on the 4th July the team have welcomed back many villagers to enjoy a meal or just a drink whilst meeting up with friends and family. As with a lot of small businesses, the last few months of lockdown have not been easy and it is taking some time for things to pick up again. The way ahead isn’t as clear as many of us hoped it would be. The only thing that is clear is we need the support of the village now more than ever before.

Set-up a Tab

To inject some much-needed cash into the business, we are setting up a similar account system to that used at the Village Shop. Customers can load money onto their account which they can then draw down to pay for food and drink. This ‘reverse tab’ also means you don’t have to remember cash or cards! If you would be interested in setting-up a tab then please speak to Stu or Gemma next time you are in the pub or give the pub a ring on 732203.

If everyone considers doing this it will give our cash-flow a massive boost at a time when we need it the most.

Do we need to pre-book?

If you want to drop in just for a drink then please do so. You’ll be required to check-in* but then we will accommodate you as best we can. If we should happen to be absolutely full then we might need to ask you to come back later. However, we have just erected a marquee in the car park and this will give us extra capacity. The pub is open. Please come and use it!

If you want to come for a meal then, yes, we would prefer you to book. Giving us as much notice as possible ensures that we can provide you with a proper service. It will also cut down on wastage. We are just a phone call away: 732203.

If you come in for a drink and then decide you might like to stay for a meal, simply ask a member of the team and we will do our level best to accommodate you.

Covid-19 Rules

We want to be as flexible as possible but there are some rules which we must observe:

  • We must ensure we have contact details in case we are advised of any Covid cases
  • Up to 10 people at a table inside from up to 2 households
  • Up to 6 people at a table outside from up to 6 households
  • Socially distance at 1m+
  • Follow the one-way system

These are the Government’s rules and we have to stick by them if we want to avoid a lockdown, fine or (worse-case scenario) lose our licence. One pub in the area has already been closed down for not following the rules.

We know that some of you are concerned about bringing children to the pub and we are working on a solution that hopefully will create a relaxing experience for parents and carers. Look out for information on the Village Website and Facebook page.

We look forward to seeing you!

Stu, Gemma, Leon and Team

*Check-in – We are obliged to take contact details from all customers so people can be quickly identified in case of a second wave of covid-19 cases.
