This week in the Village Shop

Open Gardens Teas & Ice Cream – Bank Holiday Monday from 2.00pm

With the prospect of actual sunshine this Bank Holiday Monday, the Village Shop will be selling ice cream alongside tea and cake on the Green and in our tea garden from 2.00pm tomorrow. The glorious gardens of Titchmarsh House in Chapel Street will be open as part of the National Open Gardens day – well worth a visit for some spectacular spring colour. So whether you’ve been toiling in your own garden, battling with the DIY or just relaxing in the sun, why not join us. There will be a host of delicious cakes to tempt you, including orange and lemon drizzles, Victoria sponge, coffee and walnut, carrot and chocolate flavours. The Shop will be open again during the afternoon in case you need to stock up on wine and beer too…

Get Fired Up!

Wow, what a difference a week makes! This time last week we announced that we now stock bags of logs to keep the fires burning during the chilly May evenings. This week the temperatures are soaring and the sun is shining at last. So it’s time to fire up the chimineas and fire pits while enjoying the balmy evenings knowing you can always pick up a bag of logs from the Village Shop.

On Saturday, Louise Stokes organised a very successful plant swap and sale outside the Shop. Many of you donated and bought plants and the Shop received a generous donation of £100. A massive thanks to Louise and her daughter for giving up their time and to all of you who donated, it was very much appreciated. Maybe another annual village event? The plants that were leftover were given to Ewan and Jenny Harper to sell on Monday at the Open Gardens.

12th June is World Gin Day. To celebrate this we will be raffling a bottle of Titchmarsh Tipple No.2 – the popular orange and pomegranate flavoured gin. Tickets will be available later this week.

Don’t forget that on Monday the Shop will be open Bank Holiday hours between 8am and 10.30am. Have a good week.
