Titchmarsh History Group Presents: Our Famous Ancestors

Have you ever wondered if you have any celebrities in your family history? Here in Titchmarsh we are lucky to have two people who do: Lucy Milner’s great-grandfather, Edward Thomas, was one of a small group of distinguished poets who witnessed, and subsequently sacrificed their lives to, the carnage of World War 1. One of his poems, ‘Adlestrop’, though not a war poem, is regularly cited as one of the nations favourites.

Antar Howarth’s great-grandfather on the other hand was perhaps one of the most recognized people to have performed in the circus ring. For generations, his name — Coco the Clown — has been synonymous with all the pleasure and excitement of the Big Top.

Lucy and Antar have kindly agreed to share their memories and their knowledge of these two distinguished people at a presentation entitled ‘The Poet and the Clown’ in The Clubroom, starting at 7.30 on Thursday 30th March.

As usual, entry and refreshments are free, although any donations are always welcome.
