Uncontested Election for Titchmarsh Parish Council
The nomination papers are in and the closing date has passed. Five villagers have put their names forward – four from the previous Parish Council and one newcomer. Under normal circumstances there would be 9 members on the PC. In this instance, as there aren’t enough people to force an election, the five candidates will become Parish Coucillors without any vote required.
The nominees are:
- ALDERMAN
Michael - GRANT
Alex - HOOKS
Yvette - PARTRIDGE
Nicholas - PRESTWICH
Sylvia
The full details can be found on the attached document, below.
Despite there only being 5 candidates, they are fairly well spread throughout the village – from Polopit to Islington. However, some areas of Titchmarsh will not have a representative, including Dryden’s Close, St Andrews Lane, London End, Church Street and the High Street.
Five councillors is the bare minimum the PC require to remain quorate – to make official decisions by voting. That being the case, one of the first acts could be to make efforts to co-opt 4 more people to fill in the vacancies.
There is still an opportunity for more people to play a part in the decision making process of the village. If you would like to be one of those people then please contact the Parish Clerk at clerk@titchmarsh-pc.gov.uk.
