The Trustees of Pickering Byrds Charity are pleased to offer for let a two bedroom Grade II listed mid terrace cottage in Islington, Titchmarsh.   The Almshouse cottages, 6 in total, are maintained by this local charity in Titchmarsh for the benefit of those in need in the local community. 

Pickering Byrds Charity is governed by rules which dictate to whom the cottages can be let. The qualifications of Almspeople is set out under a Governing Instrument authorised by the charity commission, which says that residents:-

“shall be people in need who were born, reside or were resident in, or have family connections to, the Parish with a preference for spinsters or widows in need.  Failing applications from people within the Parish of Titchmarsh, those from the Benefice  (nearby villages) should be considered”.

The property benefits from gas central heating, kitchen with oven and hob, lounge, dining room, two bedrooms and downstairs bathroom.  Fully fitted carpets.  Communal garden.  No dogs allowed.   The rent currently payable is £126.00 per week (£545.90 per calendar month), this is subject to review mid July 2021

Applications in writing are invited from those with a strong connection to Titchmarsh. Letters of application must be addressed to our Clerk Mrs Morehen and sent to her at 19 Nene View, Islip, Northants NN14 3LD.

Letters of application must set out the reasons for wanting to rent an almshouse cottage, and how the applicant meets the criteria [e.g. born in Titchmarsh, current or former resident of Titchmarsh, family connections etc]. 

Deadline for receipt of applications is Sunday 17 January 2021

The property will be available mid February 2021
