If you’ve been on Facebook in the last 24 hours then you’ll already be aware that Titchmarsh was visited by a gang of criminals on Monday night. In one incident a villager’s car was stolen from Chapel Street. In another incident on the High Street, thieves used a tool, inserted through the letterbox, to steal keys for both the house and the owner’s car.

The police are involved and an investigation is underway. It seems likely that the criminals made their getaway via Church Street. A number of residents have already reported capturing activity on their security cameras, on or around 3:30am. If you have any CCTV pictures, then please get in touch.

Poking a tool through your letter box to steal your keys must seem like the stuff of crime fiction – and yet it has happened in our village. Please be vigilant.
