Important roadworks information
A14 between junctions 13 and 22 – resurfacing and loop renewal works
I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out essential resurfacing and loop renewal works on the A14 between junctions 13 and 22. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface. The work will be carried out on both the westbound and eastbound carriageways.
We plan to complete this work across four nights starting Monday 28 September 2026. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close sections of the A14 and divert traffic as follows:
Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September 2026 – A14 westbound junction 22 to junction 13
Motorway diversion:
- Drivers will leave the A14 westbound at junction 22
- Join the A1(M) northbound
- Continue to Fletton Parkway Interchange, Peterborough Services at junction 17
- At the roundabout, take the first exit and follow the A605 southbound
- Rejoin the A14 at junction 13
- The diversion ends once traffic has rejoined the A14
Non-motorway diversion:
- Drivers will leave the A1(M) at Alconbury and follow the B1043 northbound to junction 16 Norman Cross Interchange
- At the roundabout, take the third exit onto London Road (A15)
- Continue via Lodge Way bypass at Yaxley
- Rejoin the A15 and at the next roundabout take the second exit onto the A1260 Serpentine
- Continue to Hampton Roundabout and take the first exit onto the A1139 westbound
- Continue to Fletton Parkway Interchange and take the second exit onto the A605 and follow the A605 southbound
- Rejoin the A14 at junction 13
- The diversion ends once traffic has rejoined the A14
Prohibited traffic intending to travel westbound on the A14 will follow the below
- At Brampton Hut Roundabout follow the A141 Eastbound to Spittals interchange junction 23
- At junction 23 roundabout take the first exit on the A1307 northbound towards Alconbury and then join the non-motorway route above following the B1043
Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October 2026 – A14 eastbound junction 13 to junction 22
Motorway diversion:
- Drivers will leave the A14 at junction 13 (Thrapston)
- At the roundabout, take the second exit and remain on the A605
- Continue to Peterborough Services at junction 17
- Join the A1(M) southbound
- Continue to Brampton Hut at junction 21
- The diversion ends once traffic has rejoined the A14
Non-motorway diversion:
- Drivers will leave the A14 at junction 13 and follow the A605
- Continue to Fletton Parkway Interchange junction 17 of the A1(M)
- At the roundabout, take the third exit and follow the A1139 eastbound to Hampton Roundabout
- On Hampton Roundabout take the third exit and follow the A1260, A15, Lodge Way at Yaxley, A15 and B1043 through Norman Cross junction 16 of the A1(M)
- On the roundabout, take the second exit and follow the B1043 Old North Road, Stangate Hill and Ermine Street to Alconbury A1307
- At Alconbury follow the A1307 southbound to junction 23 Spittals Interchange
- At the Interchange take the third exit to follow the A141 Westbound to Brampton Hut Interchange
- The diversion ends once traffic has rejoined their intended route
