International Hummus Day

To celebrate International Hummus Day on Wednesday 13th May, the Village Shop has teamed up with Farrington’s Oils to bring you some exciting recipes using their Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oils. 400g can of chickpeas
2 cloves of garlic
3 tbsp Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil
Juice of 1 lemon
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground cumin

Drain and rinse the chickpeas, peel the garlic cloves and juice the lemon. Pop all ingredients into a food processor, including the rapeseed oil, salt and cumin. Decant into a serving bowl and finish with a drizzle of rapeseed oil on top.
Serve with tortilla, flat breads, pittas or crudités.
This recipe is so easy to modify – add roasted red peppers or caramelised onion, or even sun dried tomatoes.


Chilli and Cumin Hummus

400g can butterbeans, drained
1 tsp salt
5 tbsp Mellow Yellow Chilli & Cumin Dressing

To a food processor, add your butterbeans, salt and Mellow Yellow Chilli & Cumin Dressing. Blend until smooth. Serve with a drizzle of Mellow Yellow Chilli & Cumin Dressing and enjoy.
