Late in 2022 a group of volunteers involved in organising the Islip Village Fete realised that the original Welcome Club which ran weekly in the Islip Village Hall had ceased to run during the various lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, and subsequently had been disbanded. 

We got our heads together and agreed that we should try to set up a new lunch club operating out of the Islip Village Hall.  Having established that there is a demand for such a group, and with offers of help from volunteers in Thrapston and beyond, the new Islip Lunch Club was set up.  We cater for people who are elderly, disabled, lonely and those who just want to enjoy a hot meal and a chat – there is no fixed age limit, and carers and family members are also welcome.

We offer a warm and welcoming environment in which to meet up with friends old and new.  We meet monthly at 11am, typically on the last Friday of the month (subject to availability of the hall) for a cup of tea or coffee, a biscuit or two and a chat, perhaps with a quiz thrown in, followed by a two course lunch served at 12 noon, with tea or coffee afterwards.  Lunch guests depart at 1.15pm.

Our first lunch was held on Friday 27^th January and was a great success.  There was a lot of chatter and laughter, and one lucky individual won a bar of chocolate for achieving the most correct answers in our quiz.

With our first successful event under our belt, we will be running these lunches monthly.  The following dates can be put in your diary:
