Every Monday morning in the church from 9 until 11 am

Monday Morning Café, also fondly known as Coffee Church, is a community drop-in café for absolutely everyone. We congregate in the Church every Monday morning from 9 until 11 am.
It was started in October 2015 with the aim of preventing social isolation for those with young children and those not leaving the village to go out to work.
People of all ages come together to enjoy good company, a change of scenery and the benefit of interaction in a multi-generational, inclusive atmosphere. There is no religious element and people of any faith or none are equally welcome. Nobody leaves from their first visit without having made new friends and enjoying some relaxed, social time with villagers and others from further afield.
Hot drinks and treats are always on offer and if you fancy baking something to bring and share it will be grateful received.
Pre-school age children can enjoy not only the toys in our play corner and craft activities but the freedom of a large and interesting space. Believe it or not, scooter races and hide and seek in the pews are the norm!
During the school holidays we aim to offer additional craft and play activities for older children. In the summer of 2017 we hosted 3 Forest School sessions for pre-school and school age children, supported by the Together for Families project. The opportunity to use the Church yard to explore the outdoors and our team work was warmly received. The ‘bug hotel’ the children built during the sessions can be found behind the shed supporting our eco-system. We hope to provide similar experiences in the future.
A small donation of 50p per person to cover the cost of refreshments is asked but not compulsory. We have previously used profit to purchased new storage for the toys in the Church and also craft materials for children’s activities. Any surplus is donated to the Church towards the heating bill.
The café is sustainable only because the Church host it without charging for hire of the space. We have the benefit of the servery for refreshments and toilets to keep us comfortable although it’s worth remembering to wrap up warm in the winter months.
We occasionally host visits from other community based services wishing to share advice or information and from local independent traders on a strict no obligation basis.
If you would like the opportunity to get out of the house, catch up with friends or meet new people, a warm welcome awaits you at the Monday Morning Café. Every Monday except Christmas Day and Easter Monday!
