STAUNCH at the Thurning Feast

After an absence of three years the Thurning Feast made a welcome return to the local calendar on Monday 25th July. The event had been postponed several times due to the Covid outbreak putting the future of Feast in some doubt. So it was with no little excitement that people turned out in large numbers to experience the familiar mix of live music, street food and fair ground rides.

Had you been there you couldn’t help but notice the occasional glimpse of a distinctive lime green STAUNCH T-shirt! Several members of the group were in attendance with a pop-up stall trying to raise awareness of the two massive building projects just down the road. People seemed keen to learn more and it was surprising to see so many people still hadn’t heard about the proposals.

Behind the scenes the STAUNCH team have been very busy coordinating objections to the plans whilst also taking on expert advice to piece together their own official and very detailed rebuttals (see below). Everyone is now waiting for the applications to come before the North Northants planning committee. It is believed this will not happen until August or September at the earliest.

In the meantime, if you’ve not already submitted an objection for the Glebe Land proposal there is still time to do so. Simply send an email to planning.enc@northnorthants.gov.uk with NE/22/00698/OUT in the subject line. Please include your name and address. These will not be made public.

You can also object online at the East Northants Planning Portal. Click the link below to view the current objections and documentation.

Don’t forget every member of your household can object and you don’t even have to live the area to have a say.
