Titchmarsh Parish Council’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

On Thursday 2nd June at Titchmarsh. Starts: 9:45 pm

There will be many events and activities celebrating the Jubilee across the UK leading up to The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022. A special extended bank holiday weekend will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone. In Titchmarsh there will be a number of events including the lighting of the beacon and a street party on the village green:

Thursday 2nd June 2022 at 9:45pm – Beacon lighting

Titchmarsh has registered to be part of the national beacon lighting ceremony, and our beacon will be lit at exactly 9.45pm. All beacons throughout the United Kingdom, the Channel Isles and Isle of Man will be lit at the same time, although those along Hadrian’s Wall will be lit at 10pm. The Titchmarsh beacon is lit only on very rare occasions – so come along and be part of the celebrations and see our very own village beacon alight.

The beacon is located at the entrance to the Playing Fields at the top of Drydens Close

Sunday 5th June 2022 between 3 – 5pm – Street Party

The village street party is booked for Sunday 5th June on the Top Green outside the shop from 3pm to 5pm. Everyone is welcome to join in. No charge and no reservation required. A road closure has been authorised for the immediate area around the Green, although the High Street and Chapel Street will remain open throughout. In the morning we will be setting up lots of trestle tables and chairs and bunting of course. We invite all villagers to attend from 3pm and encourage all sorts of dressing up!

Bring your own food and drink – and don’t forget your union jacks. We can expect live entertainment throughout the afternoon and the Shop will be open for drinks and ice creams.

There will be a glass of bubbly served at 4pm so that we can all toast the queen during her Platinum Jubilee weekend.
