Over the last few weeks, the red charity box by the till at the village shop has been collecting money for a food bank scheme. Thanks to the generosity of the village our first food bank box has been filled and delivered to the Co-op in Thrapston, where it will be sent on to the charity – Fareshare – who distribute all the boxes to local food banks which help families that are most in need.
The Co-op has worked in partnership with FareShare since 2013, to redistribute food from its 12 UK depots, and since the partnership began seven years ago, they have donated almost 6m meals, which includes 1.3m meals last year.
We will be making up more boxes as soon as we have sufficient donations, so a big thank you to the village for helping us to help those families in need. ☺
