Village Show
The Flower & Vegetable Show in the church last Saturday was a spectacular occasion enjoyed by many. The home grown vegetables, cakes, pastries, jams, chutnies, wines etc were amazing, not to mention the beautiful flowers, plants, arrangements and amazing creations from the children. It was an splendid Show enjoyed by all and good fun all around. Our traditional, annual horticultural show is held on the second Saturday in August, and is a popular event enjoyed by all.
After admiring the winning exhibits, tea and home made cakes were enjoyed whilst catching up with friends. Then a chance at winning the raffle, followed by a dip into the tombola and a game of skittles were essential parts of the afternoon. The raffle was drawn after the Presentation of Prizes, then the delicious produce was auctioned to an appreciative audience, by our auctioneer Andrew Wager.
Proceeds from the Show are distributed to village organisations, this year we donated to:- 1/ the church for the use of their premises and facilities 2/ to Maggy Chapman to assist with the costs of the plants in the four village planters 3/ to the Playing Field Association as a contribution to the new play area costs and 4/ to Titchmarsh Youth Group as a thank you for their invaluable help on Show day.
If you want to be involved with next year’s Show, either as an exhibitor, supporter or helper, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
