In the days before coronavirus became the only item you could see on the BBC news, the Village Shop had been planning to hold a cheese and wine tasting to celebrate International Malbec Day this Friday 17th April.
Although we can no longer hold an event in the shop, you can still join in the celebrations at home with a bottle of our Bellefontaine or Santero Malbec, which are both on offer at just £8 per bottle whilst stocks last. To accompany your wine we have some cracking cheeses from the Snowdonia Cheese Company and – just arrived – three new varieties of Piper’s crisps to tempt your taste buds.
Whilst on the subject of community spirit of the liquid kind, a new batch of Titchmarsh Tipple No1 gin will be arriving shortly, and we will be testing some summer speciality gins from our supplier – the Wharf distillery near Towcester – as we search for the ideal candidate to become Titchmarsh Tipple No2 – watch this space…
Now the spring weather has arrived you may have noticed a display of plants and vegetable seeds that are adding a splash of colour to the front of the village shop. These come from Tandee nursery at Thurning who will shortly be making up some summer hanging baskets for us.
These are available to order from the village shop, priced at £22.50 – to place an order (for a £5 deposit) – call us on 730 727 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The shop committee would like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers, who have helped the shop adapt to the new ways of working since the village is now “staying at home”.
If you are a small person, you will know that “penny sweets” had disappeared from our shelves…until today when Cathy Guy spent the afternoon repacking them in to mixed bags of sugary favourites all at 50p per bag…
...and finally… Thank you to Stephen Barber, who in addition to organising online church services, winding the church clock, collecting newspapers, opening the village shop, and chairing the “Support@Titchmarsh” committee, also found time to replace the faulty kitchen sink taps at the shop – Great work!
